Thursday Thirteen: Places to Eat

Thirteen of Places to Eat

Sonic
Arbys
Culvers
Taco Bell
Hardees
Burger King
McDonald's
Dairy Queen
Red Lobster
Cracker Barrel
Ruby Tuesday's
Texas Roadhouse
Outback Steakhouse

Currently, my most favorite "sit down" restaurant is Texas Roadhouse in La Crosee, Wisconsin.  The steaks are delicious!  My favorite fast food restaurant is Sonic but the closest Sonic is 95 miles from my house.  So my next favorite is Dairy Queen.

I really don't like McDonald's anymore.  The only things good to eat there are the Chicken Nuggets and McRibs.  Culvers is much better than McDonald's if you want a good burger.

Do you have any favorite places to eat?

Keep Calm and Love On

No matter how bad things get, you remember to be there for those you love and let them be there for you.
You think we're all in this together and we'll all get through this together. You value and appreciate social support.

You believe the world would be better if we all loved each other and ourselves a little more. Love breeds more respect for life.

You try to foster harmonious relationships and goodwill whenever possible. You want to find the good in troublesome people.

So when times get tough, keep loving. It's people like you who save the world from all its hate and acrimony.

Love may not solve all problems, but it fixes more than people realize. Deep down, we're all looking to be loved and accepted.

Wednesday Hodgepodge for 20 February 2013

1. When were you last 'on a mountaintop'? You may answer in the literal or figurative sense.

Last weekend when I was in La Crosse, WI.  I have not been to my hometown mountain top (Tip Top in Missouri) in many years.

(c) http://www.flickr.com/photos/americandigitaltraveler/

2. Do you establish and maintain a strict budget in your household? What is one piece of financial advice you would offer someone just starting out on their own?

I work on a budget but not a strict budget.  The best advice I can give is:  Pay all your bills first, then if there is anything left over buy yourself a little something.

3. Cherries-yay or nay? Cherry pie, cherry cola, black forest cake, or a scoop of Ben and Jerry's Cherries Garcia...pick one.

I will take all of that please!  But since I have to choose just one....Black Forest Cake!

4. Should you ever discuss religion or politics with people you don't know?

No, you should never get into a discussion about politics or religions with strangers.  Hell, I don't think you should even discuss it with family...causes too much drama.

5. When you take a road trip do you prefer to be the driver or the passenger? Where were you headed on your last road trip?

I don't mind driving but I would rather be the passenger so I can takes naps.  My last road trip was to the graveyard to visit with Grandma & Grandpa Wamsley.

6. If we peeked inside your closet, what color would we say is most prevalent?

Black.

7. Who's your favorite senior citizen and why are they special?

My mother-in-law and father-in-law.  Those two are two of the kindest people I know.  I am proud to be a part of their lives.

8. Random Thought:

I have lived in Wisconsin for four years and I really miss home (Missouri).  However, I miss HOME as in mom, dad, Grandpa Henson, Grandma Henson, and my aunts/uncles/cousins.  I miss family fish frys, family trips, going to Black River and oh so much more.

Sunday Stealing: The Basically Obscure Meme-Part 2.5

Today's Sunday Stealing was ripped off a writer named Chloerockchick from the group zetaboards. It is 50 questions we will do it in 2.5 parts,  She does not say who she got it from.  But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Take the time to comment on other player's posts. It's a great way to make new friends! Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

40: Do you like horror movies? How about thrillers? Yes and Yes

41: Do you like scotch? No.

42: Who is someone you would never swear in front of? A pastor

43: Coolest thing you've ever seen on Halloween? Nothing I can think of.

44: If you could change your natural hair color, would you? To what? Yes, I would make it very dark, probably black.

45: What subject would you take if you were forced to take a free class? Anything to do with computers.

46: Do you use a reusable grocery bags? No.

47: City or nature person? I was born and raised country but live in the city.

48: Have you ever used something other than "makeup" as makeup? No.

49: Do heights bother you? can look look out the window on the top floor of a skyscraper? Yes, heights bother me a little.  I cannot breath if I get too high up in the air.  Yes, I can look out the window on the top floor of a skyscraper.

Wednesday Hodgepodge - 13 February 2013

1. This week marks the beginning of Lent...will you be giving something up or adding anything to your life during this season of the year?

Hopefully, my second grandchild will be added to my life this year.

2. The day before Lent is Shrove Tuesday...tradition states you eat pancakes on this day. In some parts of the world Shrove Tuesday is actually known as 'pancake day'. How do you like your pancakes? Or don't you?

I like blueberry pancakes smothered in maple syrup and a little butter.

3. I'm sure there are many, but what is one love song you really love?

"Angel Eyes" by the Jeff Healey Band

4. What are some things you do to let others know you love them?

I tell them, talk with them, be there for them, buy things for them, send them money, and spend time with them.

5. Roses...red, pink, or some other color? Can you recall the last time someone gave you flowers? Given your choice would you like to open the door and see a dozen red roses, a dozen purple tulips, or a dozen pink peonies?
 photo valentinesdayflowers-2-14-12.jpg
I love blue roses...so beautiful!  My husband gave me a beautiful potted flower last year for valentines day.

Given the three choices of roses, tulips or peonies, I would take the peonies because they remind me of home.  Another flower that reminds me of home is lilacs (which is my most favorite flower).

6. President's Day will be celebrated next Monday. Does Presidential history and trivia interest you? Many Presidential homes are open to the public and offer guided tours...Monticello (Jefferson's home), Mount Vernon (Washington's home), Montpelier (James Madison's home), Hyde Park (FD Roosevelt's home) and The White House (home to the sitting President), to name just a few. Of those listed, which would you be most interested in touring? Why?

Presidential history and trivia does not interest (and politics gets on my nerves).   Monticello, Mount Vernon, Montpelier and Hyde Park would be interesting to tour, just to get a glimpse into how life was during those times.  I would like to tour the White House, just to say I did.

7. Are you good at keeping secrets?

Yes, I am good at keeping secrets.

8. Random Thought:  Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I wish it was already here and gone.  I do not like Valentine's Day.  I think it is a bullshit holiday. Every store you go to puts Valentine related stuff in your face. Advertisements, cards, treats, gifts and more offer promises of everlasting love.

I think my dislike for Valentine’s Day began many, many years ago in Elementary School. Each year the teacher would force all students to bring in a decorated shoe box for our Valentine’s Day party. Students would be given a list of names of every student in their class and were expected to make a Valentine to give to each one on the list. I would work hours to pick out the perfect little valentine card for each person. I was always so excited to give them out as school…only to be disappointed at peoples comments about my cards. Kids can say some really mean and hateful things. While I don’t remember the exact words, I do remember how much they hurt and how totally alone I always felt.

I found a new meme to participate in!! Wednesday Hodgepodge is hosted by Joyce over at "From This Side of the Pond".

1. Chinese New Year will be celebrated on February 10th, and 2013 is the year of the snake. When did you last see a snake? Are you okay around snakes or do they give you the shivers?

Yes, and I think there are many people out there that have way more better luck that I have.  They need to share!

I have not built a snowman or been sledding in three years.  I have only been ice skating once in my life and that was when I was very young.

I prefer to stay inside where it is warm. But if I have to choose one activity then I choose building a snowman.
