A Few of My Favorite Things: Junk Food
Today's Blogging A to Z Challenge, with my theme of "A Few of My Favorite Things", is all about the letter "J".
Those who know me, know that I am overweight. You know and I know that I need to lose weight (a lot of weight). Many years ago I gave up regular soda and switched to diet soda. I lost about 55 pounds and I was able to keep the weight off until my hysterectomy in May 2009. After that, I steadily gained back the weight.
As much as I love junk food, I am doing my best to stay away from it. But every now and then I get a huge craving for a candy bar, or potato chips, or a big juicy burger. The list goes on and on.
Do you have junk food cravings? Do you ignore the cravings or give in?

Junk food cravings - yes! I'm on this 10 day cleanse and last night I had the biggest craving... I ate it. *Hangs head in shame* I figure I'd rather take care of a small craving instead of binge on a large one later.

I don't think we'd be human if we didn't crave junk food! I have a love for Burger King, but thankfully there isn't one near me. But whenever I go down to London, I get one at the train station to eat on the way home :D
ReplyDeleteI generally am a healthy (ish) eater, so I do give in when I get a junk food craving as the cravings don't happen that often.
Mine are chocolate and Dr. Pepper.

I have no self control, my only saving grace is that I don't gain weight very rapidly...not that I couldn't lose some weight, I certainly could. I give in all the time, especially if I am stressed. Pepsi, chocolate, cookies, cupcakes...love em'

I have been inspired by a friend who gave up all sugar, flour and alcohol 21 years ago. I gave us sugar and bread for 2013. I didn't feel like I could stick to my decision if I said 'forever'. So, I have a one year contract, with an option to renew. It's working, and I believe it's because I put the words "I don't" into my vocabulary. These days when I see sugar or bread I think I want something and then I hear myself say "I don't eat sugar," or "I don't eat bread."
ReplyDeleteSometimes I dream about malted milk balls. Enjoyed your post!

I eat as healthfully as I can, but I do love chocolate, pies, fruit desserts, potato chips, french fries... pretty much the same things as the next person. It's all about MODERATION. :)

Yes, a junk food junkie am I. Way too much, but I crave it a lot. I shouldn't eat sugar, but I can't help but have some candy every day. I know what you must be feeling.
