A Few of My Favorite Things: Lilacs
Today's Blogging A to Z Challenge, with my theme of "A Few of My Favorite Things", is all about the letter "L".
Seeing or smelling lilacs brings back memories of home. Memories of my mother, who passed away in April 1991 and memories of Grandpa Henson (passed way in 1988) and Grandma Henson (passed away in 1981). Grandpa and Grandma lived next door to me from before I was born until they passed away. In their yard they had lilac bushes and the smell of those bushes would fill the air each Spring. Lilac really make me miss home and miss Missouri.
Below are two photos took last year of a lilac bush in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Isn't it beautiful?!

Hi! Lilacs remind me of the Whitman poem on Lincoln, with the line "When lilacs last in the dooryard bloomed..." They have such a wonderful aroma, too.
