A Few of My Favorite Things: Introspection

Today's Blogging A to Z Challenge, with my theme of "A Few of My Favorite Things", is all about the letter "I".

According to Dictionary.com, the definition of Introspection is: observation or examination of one's own mental and emotional state, mental processes, etc.; the act of looking within oneself.

As you may notice my blog is titled "Moments of Introspection".  Hence, my chance to have quiet moments of looking within myself and working through times of depression, sadness, other tough times and even happy times.  Looking within myself gives me a chance to slow down in like, and lets me see the pros & cons of a given situation.  Looking within myself helps me to better understand my limits and helps me to set boundaries.

Have you ever taken time to look within yourself?

  1. Introspection - always good to look inside and know yourself but do we really???

  2. I do it often, but I can't always say I like what I see.

  3. I agree with Cheryl. It isn't always pleasant, but I am also compelled to do it. Partly because I want to do unto others, and partly because I tend to take the blame for situations that don't even exist or weren't my fault or maybe anyone's fault. I'm tough on myself. So yeah, I do it.

Nice to meet you on the A to Z.

  4. I do take the time to look into myself and make adjustments, corrections. If what I see makes me happy that mostly goes unnoticed, it's always the not-so-good results that come to the surface. Thanks for the reminder. I should do it more often.

  5. I do it all of the time, and it never fails to reveal something - an idea lying just under the surface, the fact that I'm stressed about something and didn't realize it, etc. I think most people would benefit greatly from more introspection.

  6. I need to slow down and check in with myself. I don't take the time to listen to my inner voice and stay in touch with how I am feeling. Sometimes I feel that I hardly know myself at all--or rather, that I fill my life with many, many distractions so as to avoid taking the time to take a close look at myself. Thank you for the reminder: knowing oneself is the task of a lifetime.
