"I Don't Want To Play House" by Tammy Wynette

Today I sat alone at the window
And I watched our little girl outside at play
With the little boy next door like so many times before
But something didn't seem quite right today

So I went outside to see what they were doing
And then the teardrops made my eyes grow dim
'Cause I heard him name a game and I hung my head in shame
When I heard our little girl say to him.

I don't wanna play house; I know it can't be fun
I've watched mommy and daddy
And if that's the way it's done
I don't wanna play house; It makes my mommy cry
'Cause when she played house
My daddy said good-bye.

I don't wanna play house; I know it can't be fun
I've watched mommy and daddy
And if that's the way it's done
I don't wanna play house; It makes my mommy cry
'Cause when she played house
My daddy said good-bye.

Wednesday Hodgepodge: Bibbidi Bobbidi

1. Did you watch The Oscars? How many of the Best Picture nominees have you seen? (American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, Selma, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, and Whiplash).Do you think actors should use their acceptance speeches as an opportunity to promote their political and/or social agenda? Does that sort of speech make you more or less inclined to change the channel?

No, I do not watch The Oscars.  I do not need to see celebrities parade around thinking they are better than everyone else.  Actors can say whatever they want in their acceptance speech.  I don't watch the show so I don't have to listen to them anyway.  Besides, freedom of speech allows them to say whatever they want.   I will not tolerate any speech that discusses violence towards animals or children.

I have not seen any of the Best Picture nominees.  I will eventually.

2.Speaking of the movies...are you comfortable going to a movie alone? How about dinner in a restaurant (not fast food, but an actual restaurant)? The second half of this question was posed by Carrie who blogs over at It's Not Easy Being Queen. Thanks Carrie!

I am comfortable going to a movie alone and with going to dinner alone.

3.What's the last home repair or home improvement project you had to pay someone to complete? In hindsight was this a project you could have done yourself?

My husband recently installed a water filter system on the kitchen faucet.  Yes, I could have done it myself but I rather enjoyed watching him do it.

4. Have you ever had Indian food? Like it or no? If you're a fan, what's your favorite dish? Have you ever prepared this yourself at home? Is there an Indian restaurant in your current hometown?

I have never tried authentic Indian food so I am not sure if I like it or not.  I have never prepared Indian food at home and there are no Indian restaurants in my current hometown.

5. A song that reminds you of your parents?

"Funny Face" by Donna Fargo reminds me of my Mom because she use to sing it a lot.  "Chisled in Stone" by Vern Gosdin reminds me of my Dad.

6. The 26th of February is National Tell a Fairy Tale Day. What's your favorite, or one of your favorite, fairy tales? Do you have any childhood memories associated with a particular fairy tale?

I don't really have a favorite fairy tale.  I have read many of them in my lifetime but none of them stand out above the others.  I have no childhood memories associated with a particular fairy tale.

7. What's a problem you solved yesterday?

I solved the issue of "what to have for dinner".  I stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home from work and got burgers, french fries and ice cream.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

There are times that I really miss my parents.  They have been gone for over half my life and I feel like a little, lost, orphaned puppy.  I hope I have made them proud.

"I Don't Care Anymore" by Phil Collins

Well you can tell ev'ryone I'm a down disgrace
Drag my name all over the place.
I don't care anymore.
You can tell ev'rybody 'bout the state I'm in
You won't catch me crying 'cos I just can't win.
I don't care anymore I don't care anymore

I don't care what you say
I don't play the same games you play.

'Cos I've been talking to the people that you call your friends
And it seems to me there's a means to and end.
They don't care anymore.
And as for me I can sit here and bide my time
I got nothing to lose if I speak my mind.
I don't care anymore I don't care no more

I don't care what you say
We never played by the same rules anyway.

I won't be there anymore
Get out of my way
Let me by
I got better things to do with my time
I don't care anymore I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore I don't care anymore

Well, I don't care now what you say
'Cos ev'ry day I'm feeling fine with myself
And I don't care now what you say
Hey I'll do alright by myself
'Cos I know.

'Cos I remember all the times I tried so hard
And you laughed in my face 'cos you held all the cards.
I don't care anymore.
And I really ain't bothered what you think of me
'Cos all I want of you is just a let me be.
I don't care anymore D'you hear? I don't care no more

I don't care what you say
I never did believe you much anyway.

I won't be there no more
So get out of my way.
Let me by
I got better things to do with my time
I don't care anymore
D'you hear? I don't care anymore
I don't care no more
You listening? I don't care no more
No more!

You know I don't care no more!

For The Cheaters

Cheating is EASY! Try something more challenging...
Like being FAITHFUL!

When a cheater says, "I wont cheat on you again".
They really mean, "I slipped, but next time you
won't catch me."

Sunday Stealing: Love Is In The Air Meme

This week's Sunday Stealing comes from the Sunday Stealing archives!

Love, to you.
Define love in your own words.

Love is standing by someone through the good and the bad.  Love means you are dedicated        to that person and you never cheat on them.

What do you want in a relationship?

Honesty, Faithfulness, Trust, Loyalty and Kindness.

What do you contribute to a relationship

Honesty, Faithfulness, Trust, Loyalty and Kindness.

Currently.....

Do you have a Valentine?

    My husband.

If not, are you happy being single?

Being single sucks, just as sometimes being married sucks.

Describe the perfect V-day date in your opinion:

Sit at home and ignore the holiday. I hate Valentines Day.

Dream Date?

Been there, done that....was not happy or impressed.

What is your crush's name?

     I don't have a crush on anyone.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

No, I do not believe in love at first sight.  I do believe people can be sexually attracted at first      sight.  Sadly, people confuse love with sexual attraction.

This or that

Chocolates or Flowers....you must pick one!

    Chocolates....lots and lots of chocolates!

A short kiss or a big hug?

     A big hug

Cute and dimwitted, or Average and brilliant?

    Average and brilliant.

Miscellaneous

Turn-ons?

Leather, eyes, kindness and someone that is honest, loyal and trustworthy.

Turn-offs?

Stupidity, cheaters, liars, players, and men that don't like dogs.

What thing should a guy never say to you?

"You should get rid of your dog."  If a guy said that, his ass would be out the door.

How do you feel about kissing on the first date?

It depends on how the date went.  If it was a good date then a nice kiss on the lips is fine.  If        it was a crappy date, then a peck on the cheek is sufficient.

Flashback Friday: Grandpa Henson

 photo ShannonGrandpaBrian_zps196da858.jpg
This photo is of my Grandpa Henson (my mom's dad),
me on the left and my brother, Brian on the right.
I am not sure what year this was taken exactly but
I guess it was 1985 or 1986.

I really miss Grandpa...he was the best Grandpa ever!
Brian and I were lucky enough to live next door to him
from the time we were born until Grandpa passed away
in May 1988.  We love you and miss you Grandpa.

Rotten eCard of the Week #74: Love Hurts

www.rottenecards.com
I wanna write "I Love You" on a rock
and throw it at your face so you know
how much it hurts to love you!

Wednesday Hodgepodge: Tomorrow is Another Day

1. Have you ever written a love letter? Have you written one recently? Had one written to you? Did you keep it?

In my younger years, I wrote a love letter or two or ten.  But I have not written one in years.  Back in the late 1990's, a man I was dating (Shawn) wrote me many love letters....and I still have them to this day.

2. What's a movie that ends in a way you especially love?

My all time favorite movie is Gone With the Wind.   So, of course I love the ending..."after all, tomorrow is another day."

3. Something that makes your heart sing? And for those of you who are parents, I mean something besides your children that makes your heart sing?

My dog, Shelby, makes my heart sing.  I love coming home after a long day at work to be greeted at the door by Shelby's happy face. Her unconditional love is beyond amazing!

4. What's the last event you had to attend, phone call you had to make, routine task you needed to complete, or meal you had to prepare, that you did do, but only half-heartedly?

Early this week at work we had to attend an hour long training that was totally a waste of time.  I spent the hour day dreaming and picking the nail polish off of my fingernails.

5. Tuna fish salad-yay or blech? If you said yay, how do you like your tuna salad prepared? Hey, this is the Hodgepodge, right?

I don't mind tuna fish salad every now and then...once or twice a year.  I like it prepared with tuna, mayo and a little bit of pickle relish, served on white bread.

6. What's something you 'know by heart'?

The movie I mentioned above. :)  I also know the words to hundreds of songs, which includes a lot of  1980's music.

7. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, what two or three word phrase would you write on a conversation heart for someone you love? That someone could be a spouse, child, parent, cousin, bestie...anyone at all whom you love.

To my children - "Call More Often".  To my parents and grandparents - "I miss you"

8. Random Thought: I think Valentine's Day is the worst holiday ever.  My wish is that it was removed as a holiday.

The Ballad of Serenity from Firefly

I love the tv show Firefly and the movie Serenity.
The theme song has been stuck in my head for weeks!

BALLAD OF SERENITY
lyrics and music by Joss Whedon
sung by Sonny Rhodes

take my love
take my land
take me where I cannot stand
I don't care
I'm still free
you can't take the sky from me

take me out
to the black tell 'em I ain't coming back
burn the land
and boil the sea
you can't take the sky from me

have no place
I can be
since I found Serenity
but you can't take the sky from me

Wednesday Hodgepodge: Tickled Pink

1. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve, or keep your emotions tucked in tight?  I do my best to keep in all tucked in tight.  I hold it all in and then cry it all out when no one can see me.

2. How did you meet your closest friend? Grade school.

3. Pink lemonade, grilled salmon, cotton candy, pink grapefruit, a strawberry milkshake, or raspberry sorbet...of the pink foods listed, which one is your favorite? Least favorite? Which one have you most recently consumed?  I have most recently consumed pink grapefruit.  Pink lemonade is my least favorite in the list and cotton candy is my favorite.

4. When were you last 'tickled pink' over something? Explain.  I am "tickled pink" everyday when I come home from work and my sweet dog meets me at the door.  She is always happy to see me and gives me unconditional love.

5. Are you a fan of television talk shows? Daytime, nighttime, or both? What's your favorite? I am not a huge fan of television talk shows...daytime or night time.  I use to enjoy watching Jerry Springer LOL!  He cracks me up.

6. When was the last time you wanted to ask a question, but felt too foolish to do so? Earler today at work...because I knew the answer but just could not remember the answer.  I blame old age.

7. My favorite drink right now is Canada Dry Ginger Ale.

8. Random Thought: I really wish it was Spring already. I am very tired of being cold all the time.

What is Love?

What is Love?

and your dog sees you crying and comes over to comfort you.
